Oregon State vs. Utah State Prediction and Odds for Los Angeles Bowl
By Matt De Saro
This Saturday Night the first playing of the Jimmy Kimmel LA Bowl goes down with the Utah State Aggies and Oregon State Beavers squaring off in Inglewood.
Utah State enters this bowl game with a 10-3 record and a perfect mark away from home at 7-0. The offense is led by QB Logan Bonner who has amassed 3,560 yards with 36 touchdowns and 11 picks. Calvin Tyler Jr. handles the work out of the backfield and has posted 764 yards and six touchdowns on 170 total carries. The Aggies are coming off a huge victory over San Diego State in the Mountain West Conference Title Game and will look to bring that momentum into LA this weekend.
Meanwhile, the Beavers finished sixth in the Pac-12, were nowhere near making it to the title game, and yet opened as seven-point favorites over the Aggies. Their offense is led by QB Chance Nolan who has 2,414 yards passing with 19 touchdowns and nine picks.

Oregon State vs. Utah State Prediction and Pick
A major aspect of betting bowl games that is often overlooked is the motivation to win for each team. Despite being considered an honor, many players skip bowl games entirely or are checked out if they do play. Utah State might be in for a letdown game after winning the more important MWC title and could be just going through the motions in this game.
On the other side of the coin, this is the Beavers’ first bowl game under the new coaching staff and with no conference championship, this is Beavers title game. I think that the Beavers get it done here as favorites on the back of RB B.J. Baylor who led the Pac-12 with 1,259 rushing yards and 13 touchdowns.
The offense relies heavily on Baylor and lost just one game when he went over 100 yards rushing. The Aggies haven’t had to deal with a back as good as Baylor and yet they allow 144.9 yards rushing per game. I think Baylor leads this team to a win and cover here as the Aggies have already played their “big game” and accomplished what they set out to accomplish with the MWC title game.
Prediction: Oregon State -7.0 (-115)
