Oregon vs Michigan State Prediction and Odds for Friday, November 25 (Tyson Walker to Have a Big Game for Sparty)
By Josh Yourish
Welcome to the losers bracket in the Phil Knight Invitational Oregon and Michigan State.
The 3-2 Spartans are actually No. 12 in the country because of how tough their early season schedule has been and yesterday they just didn’t have enough against Alabama. Oregon is much worse off at 2-3, with their only wins coming against Florida A&M and Montana State. Yesterday the Ducks got run off the floor, 83-59 by UConn.
Despite what seems like a lopsided matchup, the Spartans are only very small favorites in this one, so let’s get right into the odds and a pick for this consolation matchup in the Phil Knight Invite.

Oregon vs. Michigan State Prediction and Pick
The Oregon Ducks are a very interestingly constructed team. They start N’Faly Dante and Nate Bittle, two seven footers, and also have another off the bench in Kel’el Ware. However, the offense has been limited so far, only scoring 66.4 points a game, but makes their defense stout. Opponents are only scoring 62.8 points and shoot 42.6% from two-point range which is the 38th best in the country. They do however, struggle defending the three-point line.
Michigan State doesn’t shoot a ton of threes so their offense could be stifled by the unconventional Ducks. The Spartans leading scorer, Tyson Walker is shooting his lowest percentage from three of his four year career this season. So, maybe he will be able to hit a few shots in this game and turn that around.
The line scares me a bit and Oregon is such a weird team to play against, but UConn handled them well and Tristen Newton had 23 points for the Huskies yesterday. I expect Walker to have a similar performance and carry the Spartans in this game.
Pick: Michigan State ML (-133)
