The Baltimore Orioles’ playoff push continues with the fourth and final game of their series with the Boston Red Sox on Thursday.

Baltimore needs to essentially play well over .500 ball to close the 2022 season and hope the Seattle Mariners, Toronto Blue Jays or Tampa Bay Rays limp to the finish.

It’s a tough ask, and the O’s are sending Mike Baumann (1-3, 4.32 ERA), who has pitched out of the pen and in the rotation to the mound in this game.

He is taking on Nathan Eovaldi (5-3, 4.15 ERA), who is making his first start since Aug. 12 after a stint on the injured list.

Let’s jump into the odds for this matchup:

Orioles vs. Red Sox Prediction and Pick

When healthy this season, Eovaldi has been one of the better pitchers for a Boston team that has really struggled on the mound this season.

The Red Sox are 9-9 in his starts, and Eovaldi did have a 2.95 ERA in his three starts prior to landing on the injured list.

Baumann has two starts this season, pitching nine innings, allowing 11 hits and five earned runs.

While I don’t know if the O’s win this game, they are the best team in MLB on the run line this season. With Boston’s bullpen (25th in ERA) potentially facing a big workload if Eovaldi is on a pitch count, I don’t mind taking the O’s to cover here.
