The Boston Red Sox finally turned a corner; reeling off six games in a row last week.

Granted, they beat up on a struggling Seattle Mariners team for most of it, but wins are wins and the Red Sox are desperate for them as they remain in fourth place in the AL East.

Another weak opponent looms on the schedule today when they kick off a four games series at home against the Baltimore Orioles. The Orioles are the only team in the AL East with a worse record than Boston and appears destined to finish dead-last. Can they start to turn things around tonight and gain some ground on No. 4 Boston?

Orioles vs. Red Sox Prediction and Pick

While the Rod Sox are on a bit of a hot streak, I think their momentum might get crushed tonight thanks to Garrett Whitlock.

The Red Sox starter has good numbers on the face of things with a 3.58 ERA and 1.16 WHIP in 32 ⅔ innings. However, most of his work has been done out of the bullpen. He was lights-out in April with just one earned run surrendered in 16 ⅔ innings. However, once the Red Sox started putting him at the beginning of games, things started to go downhill. His ERA in May is 6.75 in four starts totaling 16 innings. His last epic failure was a five-run game against the Mariners that saw him pitch just three innings, while giving up a home run in three of his last four games.

Things are not all sunshine and roses for the Orioles, mind you, as they hope Kyle Brandish can avoid another blowup on the mound. The 25-year-old righty enters at 1-3 with a 5.74 ERA and 1.35 WHIP in 26 ⅔ innings. Frankly, I don’t trust either of these guys and expect the Red Sox to jump all over Bradish.

I'm going to bet on a big score from these two teams based mostly on the weak pitching in this game.

Pick: OVER 9.5 (-110)
