The Kansas City Royals' offense had been in hibernation for the first 54 games of the season, but the bats have woken up the last few games.

Kansas City scored a total of 13 runs over their previous six games before busting out the bats for 15 runs vs. the Blue Jays and Orioles in Game 1 of the four-game set last night.

Left-hander Bruce Zimmermann gets the ball for the Orioles in Game 2 tonight against right-hander Jonathan Heasley. Will we see another offensive explosion at The K? Or will both offenses return to their bottom-10 levels in baseball?

Here are the latest odds for tonight's matchup from Kauffman Stadium over at WynnBET Sportsbook.

Orioles vs. Royals Odds, Run Line and Total

Run Line:

  • Orioles +1.5 (-200)
  • Royals -1.5 (+165)

Moneyline:

  • Orioles -105
  • Royals -105

Total:

  • 9.5 (OVER -105 | UNDER -115)

Orioles vs. Royals Prediction and Pick

It might seem out of place to go over on one of the higher totals of the night between two teams that typically struggle to score, but based on the pitching matchup, I believe it's the right play.

After a very solid start to the season, Zimmermann has struggled mightily for the O's over his last four starts; giving up 20 earned runs in 20.2 innings. Prior to May 19, Zimmermann had not allowed more than three earned runs in any of his seven starts.

As for Heasley, he's coming off back-to-back six inning starts with three earned runs allowed in each. While both were considered quality starts, his overlying metrics indicate it should have been much worse. Heasley owns a 4.62 ERA, but also has a Fielder Independent Pitching (FIP) of 6.38 and expected ERA (xERA) of 7.00. Regression is coming and it won't be pretty.

Both teams have swung the bats well over their last two games, scoring a combined 29 runs. If momentum is only as good as that day's starting pitcher, I'd say the Orioles' and Royals' offensive momentum carries forward this evening.

LEAN: OVER 9.5 (-105)
