Orioles vs. Twins Prediction and Pick

Despite all the Orioles winning in June, Jordan Lyles managed to 1-3 in the month and the O’s lost four of his five starts. Lyles ERA is barely sub five and the Orioles are 5-10 in his starts this year. The 31-year-old is a classic case of a veteran pitcher on a young team who was brought in to eat innings and lose games.

Sonny Gray is a 32-year-old in the complete opposite situation. A veteran former ace brought into a competitive team who is pitching like a top-line starter once again. His first year in Minnesota has been even better than expected. A career best 2.17 ERA and 4.45 K/BB ratio. The Twins lost his first two starts of the year, but since then he has been absolute nails, not allowing more than three earned runs in a start. The Twins have gone 7-1 in his starts since the beginning of May.

That success is sure to continue against the Orioles who are clearly much improved but not nearly a threat of the level of Minnesota who resides in first place in the AL Central.

Pick: Twins -1.5 (-115)
