The Orlando Magic are going to be playing for the No.1 pick in the draft this season.

Luckily for Magic fans, Jalen Suggs will be there to keep the season somewhat interesting. Outside of him though, it’s going to be a rough season for Orlando.

Orlando made the playoffs in 2020, even stealing a game from the Milwaukee Bucks in the bubble. Last season was supposed to be a step forward, but the Magic crumbled early on.

Jonathan Isaac missed the entire season with an ACL and meniscus injury, and then Markelle Fultz tore his ACL at the beginning of the season. At the trade deadline, Orlando decided it was time to hit the reset button and traded All-Star center Nikola Vucevic to the Chicago Bulls.

With Vucevic gone, Orlando officially went into a rebuild -- which landed it the No. 4 pick in the draft.

Orlando is projected to be the worst team in the league, but can Jalen Suggs somehow make this season a positive?

Orlando Magic Win Total Projection | 22.5 (Over -105/Under -116)

It’s hard to only win 22 games in an 82-game season. Normally those are the worst years in a franchise’s existence. Everyone...we are in those days. The Magic have absolutely nobody on their roster that can help them compete on a nightly basis. They should be everyone’s favorite fade candidate all year.

The hope for Orlando is that Wendell Carter Jr., Mo Bamba, R.J. Hampton and Suggs all get the experience they need to develop into NBA stars. Carter Jr. is the interesting piece for the Magic. Now that Vuvevic is a Bull, Carter Jr. has space and opportunity to become the star the Bulls thought he would become.

I highly doubt the Magic get to 23 wins, so Magic fans should just go ahead and start running the Tank-A-Thon simulations right now.

Orlando Magic Playoff Odds

There is no way the Magic will make the playoffs this year. WynnBET has set their odds to miss the playoffs at -10000. I will bank on those odds all day. The East actually has a lot of decent teams this season and sneaking into the playoffs won’t be an option for Orlando.

Maybe next year.
