College Football Bowl season is underway, and some of the results have been shocking right off the bat. One of the more eye-opening trends thus far has been the final scores of the nine bowl games played so far.

Including Monday’s Myrtle Beach Bowl, OVERs are 7-2 so far in Bowl Games. The only two outliers have been the Jimmy Kimmel LA Bowl between Utah State and Oregan State and the Myrtle Beach Bowl between Old Dominion and Tulsa. Of those two games, the Myrtle Beach Bowl went UNDER by eight points and the Jimmy Kimmel Bowl went UNDER by 31.5 points.

On the flip side, the highest-scoring game thus far during bowl sdeason has been the Boca Raton Bowl. The total closed at 68.5 points but the final score was 59-38, pushing the final combined score to 97 points. The difference in the predicted total and the actual total was 28.5 points and was the largest discrepancy of the nine Bowl Games played.

The closest call for OVER bettors so far was the New Mexico Bowl. The UTEP Miners lost to the Fresno State Bulldogs 31-24 with a closing total of 54.5 points. For those like myself who aren’t math whizzes, my calculations tell me that is a 0.5 point difference. For reference, here are how the remaining five Bowl Games ended up in terms of the over/under:

  • Cure Bowl O/U 63.5 | Coastal Carolina def. Northern Illinois 47-41  | Dif. of 24.5
  • Lending Tree Bowl O/U 58 | Liberty def. Eastern Michigan 56-20 | Dif. of 17
  • Bahamas Bowl O/U 50 | Middle Tennessee def. Toledo Rockets 31-24 | Dif. of 5
  • Independence Bowl O/U 54.5 | UAB def. BYU 31-28 | Dif. of 4.5
  • New Orleans Bowl O/U 56 | Louisiana def. Marshall 36-21 | Dif. of 1

Overall, Bowl Games this season have gone OVER the total by an average of 4.5 points. Of the games that went OVER, the differential is 11.5 points per game average.

Tuesday features two Bowl Games to add to this trend. Kicking off the afternoon is Wyoming and Kent State in the Famous Idaho Potato Bowl. The total for that game is currently 59.5 at WynnBET Sportsbook. The late game is the Frisco Bowl between UTSA and San Diego State with a total currently set at 49 points.
