The Pacific Tigers are on the road at the Leavey Center to take on the Santa Clara Broncos in West Coast Conference action tonight. The Broncos have a solid overall record at 13-8 but have struggled in conference play with a meager 3-3 record in their first six games. However, their struggle pales in comparison to the Tigers who are 6-13 overall and 1-4 in the WCC. They have just one win in their last eight games but are coming off a win over BYU 76-73.

The Broncos, meanwhile, have had their ups and downs recently with a 2-3 record in their last five games. Despite this, they are losing to better teams and are a much stronger program overall.

Pacific vs. Santa Clara Prediction and Pick

This game has letdown written all over it from the perspective of the Tigers. They are coming off a truly impressive win over BYU 76-74 after losing seven straight contests. Freshman Nick Blake exploded for 20 for the Tigers who led by 13 at one point. The fact of the matter is that the Tigers are one of the worst scoring offenses in the nation at 64.5 PPG. That ranks them outside of the top 300 in scoring. The Tigers also rank 293rd in total rebounds per game and 302nd in effective field goal percentage. Basically, their offense stinks. Their defense is not that much better and ranks 321st in opponent effective field goal percentage and 180th in overall scoring.

While the Broncos' defense ranks behind their opponents at 235th, it shouldn’t matter much tonight. This is because the Broncos have one of the highest-scoring offenses in the nation with a 77.1 PPG average. They are top 30 in field goal percentage, three-point percentage, and 12th in overall shooting percentage.

While the Tigers put together a strong performance against BYU, they are not that good of a team and don’t match up well against Santa Clara. They just don’t have the firepower on offense to keep up and could get completely blown out tonight.

Pick: Santa Clara -12.5 (-110)
