Packers Are Screwing Aaron Rodgers Again

The Green Bay Packers have made a habit of pissing Aaron Rodgers off seemingly every chance. Well, Green Bay struck gold again today, letting yet another wide receiver leave the frozen tundra for green pastures and lowering Rodgers chances of winning another Super Bowl once again.

A week after trading away all-world wide receiver Davante Adams for a couple of draft picks, the Packers didn't pony up for Marquez Valdes-Scantling, who signed with the Kansas City Chiefs in free agency. The leaves Rodgers with a who's who of skill position players, as in who the hell know who these people are?

The Packers are currently tied for the fifth-highest odds in the entire NFL to win the Super Bowl at +1200 (bet $100 to win $1,200) at WynnBET. With a supporting cast like what you see above, it's fair to wonder if they can even win the NFC North (they're currently the favorites at -185 with the Vikings at +280 behind them).

You think Rodgers is happy with that group of skill position players? Neither do I.

This isn't the first time the Packers have hamstrung the four-time MVP with an average to below-average supporting cast. They have routinely penny pinched in free agency and at the trade deadline, refusing to pay up to surround Rodgers with the talent needed to win a Super Bowl. Probably why he's only won one. Throw in the fact that they also draft his presumed successor a few years ago and you could understand why Rodgers would have issues with this organization.

Before, the Packers could always point to Adams as their saving grace. After all, he's the best or second best wide receiver in the NFL. Can't complain when he's on the roster. But when Allen Lazard is you WR1, you might as well throw in the towel when it comes to competing for a Super Bowl.

Sure, the Packers can win the division again next year because they have Aaron Rodgers and the rest of the NFC North is mediocre to sub-par. But Rodgers only has a few more shots at winning it all and the Packers seem to be doing everything in the power to avoid giving him the talent needed to achieve that goal.

You can say whatever you want about how Rodgers contract has hamstrung them, but I'll just point out they haven't drafted a wide receiver in the first round in forever or acquired a big-name offensive skill player in free agency and have balked at low-risk options at the trade deadline.

The fact is, anyone who thinks the Packers are doing everything they can to surround Rodgers with the talent needed to win a Super Bowl is lying to themselves and I for one can't blame Rodgers if he's sick of dealing with the same crap from them for yet another year.
