Packers vs. Chiefs Spread Shifts Drastically Towards Green Bay
By Ben Heisler
The Kansas City Chiefs did not make a good impression on Monday Night Football to bettors across the country.
Despite winning 20-17 over the New York Giants at home to improve to 4-4, the Chiefs fell to 2-6 against the spread in 2021, with no wins ATS at home in four games this season.
It's taken about eight weeks, but bettors for the first time have finally decided they want no part of the Chiefs in Week 9.
After opening Kansas City as 2.5-point favorites against Aaron Rodgers and the Green Bay Packers, the line immediately shifted the opposite direction by as many as 3.5-points! Right now at WynnBET, Green Bay is currently a one-point road favorite against Kansas City with the total set at 55.
Kansas City's Super Bowl Odds Keep Falling as Green Bay's Continue to Climb
This Week 9 matchup is a reflection of two teams with deep postseason aspirations that are also moving in complete opposite directions.
After opening the season as the odds-on favorite to win the Super Bowl at WynnBET, the Chiefs have fallen to eighth on the board at +1600, ahead of division rival Los Angeles, but behind other AFC teams like the Buffalo Bills (+450) and Baltimore Ravens (+1100). Meanwhile, the Packers are fourth in the NFL with odds of +850 to win the Lombardi Trophy, but are third in the NFC behind Tampa Bay (+550) as well as Los Angeles (+600).
Since their 38-3 blowout Week 1 loss to the New Orleans Saints, Green Bay has won seven in a row, the last came over the Arizona Cardinals on the road on Thursday night of Week 8. The Packers are now 7-1 ATS, covering the number in every victory this year. The win for Green Bay also handed Arizona their first loss of the season.
Chiefs Acquire Much Needed Help on Defense in Melvin Ingram
Kansas City ahead of Tuesday's NFL Trade Deadline added some additional pass rush help with the trade for Steelers outside linebacker Melvin Ingram. The longtime former Charger met with the Chiefs as a free agent back in March, but they chose not to sign him.
Ingram through six games with the Steelers has a sack, along with 10 combined tackles and six QB hits. He has 50 career stacks in 119 total games.
