Blake Snell is finally performing like the Padres were hoping for when the club traded for him.

Snell has pitched to a 2.71 ERA this season and is putting up Cy Young numbers for the Padres, who are trying to get into the playoff mix once again after making the NLCS last season. The team is in Toronto on Thursday in hopes of getting another outstanding start from Snell.

Here are the odds and our best bet:

Padres vs. Blue Jays prediction and pick

In his last eight starts, Snell has been unstoppable. He has a 0.57 ERA, including six shutout outings which includes his last three. Over the last six weeks, there hasn't been a stronger pitcher.

He will face a Blue Jays club that has been about league average in most key hitting metrics, namely OPS, over the last 30 days, per MLB.com. This team at the moment isn't equipped to hit a pitcher in command like Snell.

Meanwhile, Chris Bassitt hasn't had the same success he had with the Mets last season. He is pitching to a 4.12 ERA as he is getting crushed by hard contact, more than one home run allowed per nine innings. Further, his xERA is nearly a half run higher, 4.53, meaning that he is likely pitching better than he is expected to. Against a Padres team that is top 10 in OPS over the last month, I believe the Friars get it done on the road.
