San Diego is desperately hoping to salvage this four-game series with Los Angeles after dropping the first two games. Last night, Tony Gonsolin outdueled Blake Snell who finished with 12 strikeouts and on Thursday, Mitch White got the better of Joe Musgrove. The Padres have been held to just one run in each of the first two games of this series.

Today, San Diego turns to Yu Darvish to stop the bleeding as the Padres now trail LA by 3.5 games in the division race. The Dodgers hand the ball to Tyler Anderson who is having a career year in LA.

Padres vs. Dodgers Prediction and Pick

Before the series if you looked at the pitching matchups this would certainly be a game you would identify as an advantage for the Padres, maybe the game they would be most likely to win.

The 35-year-old Darvish has not been Joe Musgrove this year, but he has been very solid for San Diego with a 3.26 ERA and 7-3 record. His strikeout numbers are down, but he also has a sub one WHIP for only the second time in his career. The last time he faced this LA lineup was back on April 23 and Darvish managed six scoreless innings only giving up one hit.

On the other side, Tyler Anderson has had some issues with San Diego. The Padres are a significantly better team against left-handers, with an OPS 38 points higher than against righties.

Anderson faced the Padres in April and gave up two runs in just 4.2 innings.

Pick: Padres ML +134
