The Padres almost gave their fans something to smile about for the first time in weeks.

Down 4-0 in the 1st inning, and 5-1 in the 2nd, the Friars scored nine unanswered runs over the next five innings; six of them against likely NL Cy Young winner Max Scherzer. The Dodgers found themselves in a 9-5 hole with just three innings left to play, possibly moving them three games back of the division-leading Giants.

But another blown lead sunk San Diego again, giving up six runs in the 7th and 8th innings to give L.A. an11-9 win at Dodger Stadium and covering nearly at -300 at WynnBET.

Tonight, the oddsmakers aren't giving the Padres much of a shot for redemption either. San Diego is +175 on the moneyline (+1.5 at -105), with the Dodgers as -220 favorites again at home. The total is set at 9, with the over slightly favored at -115 compared to the under at -105.

Vince Velasquez (3-8 | 6.22 ERA) gets the start for the Friars against Robert Gonsolin (4-1 | 3.00 ERA).

Padres vs. Dodgers Pick and Prediction

Yesterday was the Padres' night to extract what revenge they could from their broken season, and the Dodgers kept finding a way to respond in a furious fight to the finish in the division.

L.A. has won three straight games, but the Giants have won 5 in a row with only four games left to play and a two-game lead in the division for San Francisco.

Wednesday night's game was an absolute crusher for San Diego, and with Velasquez not having a win since June 29th, I have a difficult time seeing the Padres get up for this one with not much left to play for.

Look for Cody Bellinger to have a big day at the plate as well. The left-hander is .600 in his career vs. Velasquez with a home run and two RBI.

I'll lean on the Dodgers to win comfortably for their fourth straight, and will grab them on the run line to grab some value at -1.5.

PREDICTION: Dodgers -1.5 (-115)
