The 26-14 San Diego Padres hope to complete a sweep of the 22-17 San Francisco Giants today at 4:05 PM EST.

Winners of five of six, San Diego will send MacKenzie Gore to the mound on Sunday. Gore doesn't go deep into games, but has a 2-1 record and 2.17 ERA through six starts and has been particularly impressive on the road.

San Francisco will counter with Alex Wood, and he's been middling thus far in 2022. Through seven starts, he has a 3.93 ERA but also struggles to pitch deep into games, having not made it through the sixth inning yet this season. He gave up two runs in 4.1 innings against the Padres in his first start of the year, and the Giants need a big day from the 31-year-old if they're going to snap out of their slump.

Will Wood deliver a solid outing and salvage a win in the series or will the Padres complete the sweep behind another strong day from Gore?

Let's take a peak at the odds from WynnBET Sportsbook to help find out and pick a winner in this Padres vs Giants series finale matchup:

Padres vs Giants Prediction and Pick

The Padres have a pair of one-run victories to open this series and we should see another competitive game today. But honestly, I'm a bit surprised this total opened so low. Each starting pitcher has been solid, but neither is spectacular, and the wind is blowing straight out to center field.

MacKenzie Gore ranks in the 11th percentile in hard hit percentage and 15th in average exit velocity, while Alex Wood is in the 18th percentile in expected batting average. Both teams rank in the top dozen in MLB in OPS against left-handed pitchers this month and each bullpen ranks in the bottom half of the National League in ERA.

In San Francisco's last 12 games at home, the over is 9-3. Meanwhile, it's 11-5 over San Diego's last 16 on the road.

With two pitchers that have discouraging underlying metrics and a pair of offenses capable of doing damage, I expect those trends to continue. As a cherry on top, the over is 14-6 in the last 20 matchups between the Padres and Giants. Take advantage of a surprisingly low total and enjoy each crack of the bat as we see an offensive explosion in this series finale.

Pick: Over 7.5 (+100)
