Mets Game 1 starter Max Scherzer didn't live up to his contract, allowing seven runs in four plus innings of work and a big reason why New York is down 1-0 in the NL Wild Card round and quickly facing the end of their season.

The Mets will turn to Jacob deGrom to keep their season alive while the visiting Padres will look to finish off the Amazin's with Blake Snell, who has been one of the best pitchers in baseball over the last several months.

What can we expect? Let's break it down by first checking out the odds:

It may be painful, but I'm still eyeing the under between these teams mainly due to the dominance of each pitcher.

Everybody is well aware of the greatness of deGrom, who missed the first half of the season with a shoulder injury, but he has been fantastic since his return. deGrom is striking out more than 14 batters per nine innings and will face a home run reliant Padres squad. San Diego hit .233 as a club since the start of September and will be faced with a tall order against one of the best pitchers in the bigs.

However, the Padres have a stud pitcher of their own on the mound with Snell giving the team a massive lift over the second half of the season. After posting a 5.22 ERA over the first half of the season, Snell has been a star since the All-Star break, pitching to a 2.19 ERA over his last 14 starts.

The Mets have their fair share of struggles against left handed pitching relative to their typical elite metrics, posting the 14th best OPS against southpaws this season. After scoring one run on Friday, it may be another tough night at the plate for New York again.

I'm going to trust both pitchers to show up on Saturday night and for this game to be a rock fight until the end.
