It took a bit of time for the San Diego Padres' new-look lineup to get rolling, but these past few days were a glimpse into how dominant that offense can be. With 30 runs combined over their last three games, the Padres are officially a force to be reckoned with.

Yu Darvish enters today's game with a quality start in 10 of his last 11 outings. He's been one of MLB's most consistent starters, allowing more than three runs in just three of his of 21 outings.

Washington turns to Anibal Sanchez, who is 0-5 with a 7.56 ERA. Sanchez gave up eight home runs over those five starts and has to be praying the Padres' ferocious hitters take a day off or something. Otherwise, San Diego might put up 30 in this game alone.

Can Sanchez pull off a miracle or will Darvish keep the Padres rolling? Let's check out the odds, courtesy of WynnBET Sportsbook:

Padres vs Nationals Odds, Run Line and Total

Run Line:

  • Padres -1.5 (-175)
  • Nationals +1.5 (+145)

Moneyline:

  • Padres: -285
  • Nationals: +252

Total:

  • 9 (Over +100/Under -120)

Padres vs Nationals Prediction and Pick

This genuinely is not a fair contest. With the star power in the Padres' lineup, Annibal Sanchez is in deep, deep trouble.

Sanchez has long been one of MLB's worst starters, and through five starts he's done nothing to inspire confidence. He's yet to finish six innings, yet he's allowed at least four runs in all but one of his outings.

Meanwhile, Yu Darvish has an expected FIP (Fielding Independent Pitching) under 3.17 for five consecutive starts. He's the ace of this rotation, in my opinion, and should continue his stellar stretch against a Nationals club that ranks 24th in OPS against right-handed pitchers over the last month.

I think San Diego cruises in this matchup, but I don't like paying the -175 juice on the run line. Instead, I'll look to bet their team total over 5.5 (+100).

Each of Sanchez's last four opponents cleared this number, and none have the offensive potency that the Padres bring to the table. Look for Darvish to dominate and Sanchez to flounder as San Diego puts up another huge performance.

Pick: Padres Over 5.5 Runs (+100)
