The Atlanta Falcons are 3-4 and yet, they are one of the bigger surprises in the NFC. Few expected them to be hanging around at the top of the NFC South. They can thank the Carolina Panthers for pulling off the biggest surprise of the year, a win over Tampa Bay in Week 7, for keeping them at the top of the division. The Panthers are 2-5 after beating Tom Brady and might be trending in the right direction without Matt Rhule or Christian McCaffrey.

Even after their big win, the Panthers are still nearly a touchdown underdog, so let’s take a look at the odds.

Panthers vs. Falcons Odds, Spread and Total

Panthers vs. Falcons Prediction and Pick

Yes, the Panthers beat the Bucs 21-3 in Week 7, but that had everything to do with the Bucs' issues and very little to do with the Panthers figuring things out. Carolina isn’t going to suddenly rip off a big win streak, this is still a team devoid of offensive talent that is actively shopping their best offensive weapons. Robbie Anderson is in Arizona, Christian McCaffrey is in San Francisco, and I wouldn’t be surprised if D.J. Moore was somewhere else by kickoff Sunday.

PJ Walker went 16-for-22 for 177 yards and two touchdowns against Tampa Bay, but seven of those completions and 69 of the yards were to Moore. If he isn’t on the field then their offense will crater.

Atlanta was 6-0 ATS this season before a blowout loss to the Bengals in Week 7. Joe Burrow and Ja'Marr Chase were just too much for the Falcons defense to handle, especially after AJ Terrell sustained a hamstring injury in the first quarter. Atlanta was outgained 537 to 214 in that game, it was pure dominance from Cincinnati. I still trust the Falcons running game even though Carolina only allows 4.1 yards per carry and help the Bucs to 46 yards on the ground.

I'm willing to write off both performances from Week 7 and trust the other six weeks we've watched to bet this one.

Pick: Falcons -6 (-110)
