The Carolina Panthers (3-3) will face off against the New York Giants (1-5) at MetLife Stadium in Week 7.

The Panthers lost in overtime to the Minnesota Vikings last week, 34-28. Sam Darnold showed flashes of his days as a New York Jet, completing 17 of his 41 passes for 207 yards, a touchdown and an interception. Carolina gathered only 306 total yards of offense, converted just two of 12 third down tries, and lost the turnover battle with the Vikings (three to one) and still managed to get the game into overtime.

The Giants fell to 1-5 on the season after getting beat on by the Los Angeles Rams last week, losing by 27 points. Quarterback Daniel Jones would throw three interceptions, fumble twice (losing one), and lead New York to 261 total yards of offense.

With Saquon Barkley out, Devontae Booker would tally 69 total yards on 16 touches.

Panthers vs. Giants Prediction and Pick

Stephon Gilmore, the recently acquired cornerback, is nearing a return in Week 7 for the Panthers, which will be a welcome addition to the secondary after allowing Kirk Cousins of the Vikings to throw for 373 yards and three touchdowns.

Carolina’s defense has been great for most of the season, allowing just 216 passing yards per game (second in the NFL), and 20.2 points per game (sixth in the NFL). The Panthers should be able to keep Jones and Booker in check.

Assuming Sam Darnold can rebound against the Giants 21st-ranked passing defense (allowing 275.5 passing yards per game), this Panthers offense as a whole should continue to put points on the board.

I’m taking Carolina on the spread at -2.5, and I’m taking the over 44, too.
