Paris Saint-Germain (9-1-1) is coming off a goalless draw with Olympique Marseilles in its last match, and could be undermanned for today’s match with Lille as Kylian Mbappe will be out with an ear infection, and Lionel Messi is doubtful to play after a muscle issue.

With both superstars on the shelf, PSG must rely on their defense and midfield to carry the load. Neymar will need to rise to the occasion, fronting the offensive attack and midfielder Georginio Wijnaldum could see a lot of work in this contest as well.

Lille (4-3-4) came to a draw in its last contest, sharing a 1-1 finish with Stade Brestois on Oct. 23. The Canadian forward Jonathan David has scored seven goals for Lille this season, and is tied for the lead in Ligue 1, with Gaetan Laborde of Rennes.

Lille is struggling to defend its Ligue 1 title, currently sitting at 10th in the standings. Paris Saint-Germain is in first place, seven points ahead of Lens.

Paris Saint-Germain vs. Lille Prediction and Pick

If PSG can play with at least one of Messi or Mbappe in the lineup, they will clearly have a bigger advantage.

Paris Saint-Germain has dominated most of their French Ligue 1 competition, despite taking a loss and a draw in their last three games. PSG has the best goal differential in the league at +14. On the other side of the field, Lille has a goal differential of -2.

Lille has struggled to get its footing, and will most likely struggle against top-level competition in PSG. Prior to their draw with Brestois, Lille took a 1-0 loss to Clermont Foot. That’s not a sign of a team trending in the right direction.

Paris Saint-Germain head coach Mauricio Pochettino’s usual 4-2-3-1 should keep the focus on the offense up front, even without a few solid offensive performers, I’d expect the attack to be the same.

Wijnaldum appears to be a prominent piece tonight and could find the back of the net for the first time in a PSG uniform.

I’m taking Paris Saint-Germain on the moneyline at -285.
