Patrick Surtain II has quickly made his presence felt this preseason, and oddsmakers have finally taken notice.

Surtain II, who had been sitting at +1200 odds on WynnBET to win Defensive Rookie of the Year, has finally moved up the standings at +1000 odds after an impressive string of preseason performances.

The Denver Broncos have gotten a lot of questions for taking Surtain II over Justin Fields in the 2021 NFL Draft, but the cornerback is showing that he has the potential to be a special defender in the NFL.

Surtain II is still behind Micah Parsons (+500), Jaelen Phillips (+650), Jamin Davis (+900) and Kwity Paye (+900) to win the Defensive Rookie of the Year award, but he has made it clear that he will have a major role in Denver’s defense entering this season.

Denver is currently projected to win 8.5 games, with the under being the slight favorite (-116) to the over (-105). WynnBET also has the Broncos heavily favored to miss the postseason again under Vic Fangio, as they are -210 to do so and just +155 to make it into the field.

The quarterback position will ultimately decide Denver’s fate, but having Surtain II in the secondary in a division that features Justin Herbert and Patrick Mahomes will be important for the Broncos going forward.
