The Patriot League will begin its conference tournament on Tuesday, March 1 to decide the final two teams that will make the quarterfinals to compete for an automatic bid to the NCAA Tournament.

With mid-major conferences, the auto-bid can sometimes be the only path into the tournament, as some conferences don’t have enough high-quality teams to gain an at-large bid on Selection Sunday.

Let’s get into everything you need to know about the Patriot League tournament, starting with the odds via WynnBET Sportsbook:

Patriot League Conference Tournament Prediction and Pick

This is Colgate’s tournament to win, as indicated by the odds, and I think the Raiders have what it takes to get it done.

Colgate simply dominated the conference this season, finishing on a 12-game winning streak in the regular season and going 16-2 overall in Patriot League play. The Raiders are the only team with a positive adjusted efficiency margin in the conference at KenPom, and they are No. 1 in offensive efficiency and No. 2 in defensive efficiency (behind Navy) this season.

Colgate’s only two conference losses came to Boston U and Lehigh, and blew out both teams the second time they played. Don’t overthink this conference.

Lean: Colgate (-190)

Patriot League Conference Tournament Dark Horse

If I were to take a dark horse in this conference tournament, it would have to be Lehigh (+1500). The Mountain Hawks have proven they can knock off Colgate, and they’d get an early look at them in the semifinals which could significantly shrink their odds with an upset win.

The argument for Lehigh is simple, the team is third in offensive efficiency and fifth in defensive efficiency in the conference. The only other team in the top five in both of those categories is Colgate.

The Mountain Hawks can get hot from beyond the arc, as they rank 14th in the country with a 38.1 percentage from beyond the arc. That can be the difference maker in the conference tourney, as a few hot shooting games could carry the Mountain Hawks to a title.
