Patriots vs. Panthers Prediction, Odds, Spread and Over/Under for NFL Week 9
By Matt De Saro
The New England Patriots had one of their best game since the loss on Tom Brady with a road victory over the Los Angeles Chargers yesterday.
While it was not a blowout win, the Patriots beat a team who is considered to be superior in most ways. Now 4-4 on the season, the Patriots are second place in the AFC East and could break .500 this weekend against the Carolina Panthers.
The Panthers also had a positive Week 8 that saw them snap a four-game winning streak in a 19-13 victory over the Falcons. However, their starting QB Sam Darnold exited the game late with a concussion and his status for Week 9 is unknown as of now.
Head injuries are hard to predict, some come back and play the next game and some are out for weeks. It will be a waiting game to see which side of the fence Darnold lands on.

Patriots vs. Panthers Prediction and Pick
Making an early pick on this game is hard without knowing Darnold’s status for Week 9 after his concussion yesterday. However, I think that for me at least, his presence doesn’t really change my opinion about the total in this game.
No matter who is under center for the Panthers, their offense isn’t going to impress too many viewers. The Panthers rank 29th in yards per play and, while I understand that they have been without Christian McCaffrey, even with him this offense wasn’t doing much. McCaffrey has a chance to return this weekend but even if he does, I expect him to be rusty after sitting for so long.
Both of the defenses are also very strong. The Panthers are the third-best in the NFL at holding opponents to low yards and I think they show off that defense this weekend.
Neither team has much to offer in terms of offense and I think that McCaffrey is still too fresh off an injury to expect him to run all over New England in the event that he plays.
PICK: Patriots and Panthers UNDER 47.0 | -110
