The New England Patriots and the Pittsburgh Steelers used to be one of the most anticipated matchups of the season. Now, instead of Big Ben and Tom Brady, we have Mitch Trubisky and Mac Jones.

Sunday's matchup features two of the worst offenses in the league and two teams just trying to scratch and claw their way back to the playoffs.

The Patriots come into Week 2 0-1 while the Steelers are 1-0, but the outlook is not great for either of these teams this year.

Here are the latest odds for Week 2.

Patriots vs. Steelers Odds, Spread and Total

Steelers and Patriots Betting Trends

  • Pittsburgh is 1-0 ATS this season

  • Pittsburgh went 3-0 ATS as a home underdog in 2021
  • New England went 3-2 ATS as a road favorite in 2021

Patriots vs. Steelers Prediction and Pick

This is so easy for me. It is essentially a pick ‘em and I will simply choose not to pick either.

The Patriots have Matt Patricia calling plays and scored seven points in Week 1 with Mac Jones in his second year. With every passing day, it looks more and more like the New England dynasty was a product of Tom Brady far more than it was of Bill Belichick. Belichick has failed to bring in any wide receivers and support Jones in any way this offseason.

Meanwhile,Pittsburgh has Mitch Trubisky running their offense and even with a full overtime period, Trubisky couldn’t throw for 200 yards against Cincinnati. There was almost nothing downfield expect for a trick play to Pat Freiermuth and a free play also to the second-year tight end. Diontae Johnson was relied on heavily to make things happen on the outside, but the passing game was actually the strength of the offense.

The Pittsburgh running game was horrible. Najee Harris got 10 carries and went for 23 yards. There were no holes in the line and he didn’t look dynamic in the space he was given. In fact, Chase Claypool ended up as the leading rusher.

Pittsburgh’s defense was as dominant as a defense can be. They forced five turnovers and Minakah Fitzpatrick was the best player on the field all day. Reigning Defensive Player of the Year, T.J. Watt, will be out this week and possibly for a lot longer, but the Steelers will be able to keep the lifeless Patriots offense from scoring.

I honestly don't care how low this total is, I’m taking the under. These offenses are pitiful and this game might be painful to watch.

I’m a Steelers fan and had them on the moneyline yesterday. I felt better about Pittsburgh's chances of scoring when the defense was on the field.

PICK: Under 40.5 (-110)
