The New England Patriots and Washington Football Team will get their first taste of preseason action tonight, when they square off at 7:30 p.m. EST in Foxborough.

After a down season in 2020, the Patriots are hoping that a rebuilt roster will be able to contend for a playoff spot this season. As for Washington, it is hoping that Ryan Fitzpatrick can lead it to another division title in 2021.

Here’s a look at a few season long props from WynnBET involving tonight’s top players, and who I think is the better bet.

Who Will Have More Passing Yards: Cam Newton or Ryan Fitzpatrick?

Ryan Fitzpatrick is making his debut in a Washington uniform in tonight’s matchup, and oddsmakers think he will have a solid season for the Football Team, as he has +6000 odds to lead the league in passing.

Cam Newton, who will try to hold off first-round pick Mac Jones this season, has +20000 odds to complete the feat (as does Jones) this season.

Newton, who struggled throwing the ball last season with just 2,657 passing yards in 15 games, may not start all season, so that gives Fitzpatrick an edge immediately.

Fitz could also be benched if he stumbles, but the veteran showed he had a lot left in the tank last season with the Miami Dolphins. Fitzpatrick doesn’t have a first rounder waiting in the wings behind him, so I think he’s the safer pick in this prop.

Who Will Have More Rushing Yards: Damien Harris or Antonio Gibson?

Damien Harris and Antonio Gibson were both breakout players in the 2020 season, as Harris seized control of the Patriots’ backfield down the stretch of the season and Gibson was a surprise performer as a rookie.

This year, WynnBET is giving Gibson +3000 odds to lead the NFL in rushing, while Harris clocks in at +10000. Gibson certainly has less competition in his backfield, as former first-round pick Sony Michel is still looming behind Harris in New England.

Gibson, by all accounts, is expected to have an even bigger season in terms of his role, so I’ll take him to beat out Harris in rushing, but don’t be surprised if both push the 1,000-yard mark if they stay healthy.

Who Will Have More Receiving Yards: Jakobi Meyers or Terry McLaurin?

Let’s just say that the Patriots don’t necessarily have a receiver who is expected to be on McLaurin’s level.

McLaurin, who has +3000 odds to lead the league in receiving, is tied with Allen Robinson for the 14th-best odds in the league, but that’s still far better than any Patriot.

None of New England’s pass catchers are on the odds list at WynnBET to lead the league, meaning that oddsmakers are confident in Newton or Jones to have a big year throwing the ball to one specific player.

Hunter Henry, Jonnu Smith, Nelson Agholor, and Kendrick Bourne are all upgrades from last year, but I’m lookin at Meyers, who led New England with 729 yards last season, to compare with McLaurin.

The edge easily goes to Washington’s standout season, but the Patriots may have a player breakout and find his way up the odds list this season.
