Paul Casey Destined for Win at Travelers Championship
TPC River Highlands, the host of this week’s Travelers Championship, is one of the courses on the PGA Tour schedule where we seem to see the same handful of names at the top of the leaderboard year in and year out.
Bubba Watson, who has won the tournament three times in his career, is certainly one of those names. However, Paul Casey has also played fantastic golf at the event every single year, but he’s still seeking his first victory at the tournament.
In six career starts at the Travelers Championship, Casey has two second place finishes, two fifth place finishes, a 17th, and a 32nd. That means he’s had a 66% success rate of finishing in the top five, which is an impressive feat. With how he’s played this season, this could be the year that he finally gets his win at TPC River Highlands.
WynnBET has Paul Casey’s odds to win the Travelers set at +1500, which is the fourth shortest odds in the field. Bryson DeChambeau (+1200), Dusitn Johnson (+1200), and Patrick Cantlay (+1300) are the three golfers listed above him.
Casey has quietly been playing some fantastic golf heading into this week’s event. He finished T4 at the PGA Championship in May, and then followed it up with a sixth place finish at the European Open and a T7 finish at last week’s US Open.
Casey also ranks 13th on the PGA Tour in total strokes gained this week, while also ranking an eye-popping third in strokes gained: approach the green. His putting has been his only weak spot this season, ranking 111th in strokes gained: putting, but TPC River Highlands is forgiving for those who struggle with the flat stick.
I’ve bet on Casey to win the event each of the past three years, and given his recent form, there’s no reason to stop that strategy at +1500 this week.
