The Indiana Pacers have been frisky early in the 2022-23 season, upsetting the Miami Heat in their last game to improve to 4-5 straight up and 5-4 against the spread on the season.

Now, the Pacers get a shot at another playoff team from last year in the New Orleans Pelicans on Monday night. The Pelicans come into this game off a loss against the Atlanta Hawks where they saw star Zion Williamson exit the game due to cramps.

Williamson is listed as day-to-day, and I’d expect him to suit up in this matchup if he truly was just dealing with cramping in Saturday's game.

With Tyrese Haliburton and Bennedict Mathruin exceeding expectations in Indiana, can the Pacers pull off an upset on Monday?

Pelicans vs. Pacers Odds, Spread and Total

Pelicans vs. Pacers Prediction and Pick

We have a massive total at 235.5 in this game, but I think the UNDER may be the way to go even though both teams have solid players on offense.

The Pacers, who love to push the pace at No. 5 in the league, come into this game with the No. 11 offensive rating with New Orleans just ahead at No. 9. That being said, the Pacers have gone UNDER 235.5 total points in five of their nine games this season.

As for the Pelicans, they’ve gone UNDER this number in four of nine games, with two games just clearing at 237 and 238. New Orleans doesn’t push the pace, ranking 19th in the NBA this season, so I don’t expect the Pels to willingly play a track meet with the Pacers.

I’ll go UNDER this total with Indiana’s offense due to slow down given the talent on the roster.
