It looked like the Phoenix Suns were going to run away with a Game 1 victory against the New Orleans Pelicans, but the Pels made a second half run, keyed by Larry Nance Jr., to cut the deficit to single digits in the fourth quarter.

Chris Paul took over from there, and he finished the game with 30 points to help the Suns cover the 10.5-point spread in a 110-99 win.

Pelicans vs. Suns Series Odds Before Game 2

  • Pelicans: +1100
  • Suns: -3000

The Suns are still heavily favored to win the series, as oddsmakers aren’t worried about the league’s best team struggling for a small stretch in the second half.

Phoenix only gave up 34 points in the first half, and Defensive Player of the Year candidate Mikal Bridges gave C.J. McCollum a lot of trouble in Game 1. The odds still suggest that this series will end rather quickly in Phoenix’s favor.

Pelicans vs. Suns Odds, Spread and Total for Game 2

Spread:

  • Pelicans +9.5 (-110)
  • Suns -9.5 (-110)

Moneyline:

  • Pelicans: +415
  • Suns: -580

Total:

  • 221.5 (Over -110/Under -110)

The spread for Game 2 has been adjusted a point in the Pelicans’ favor, but I wouldn’t be surprised to see that move before Game 2 starts.

While the Suns haven’t been great against the spread as home favorites this season (20-21), they are an impressive 33-9 straight up at home.
