The Pittsburgh Penguins and Minnesota Wild square off tonight in what could be the game of the night in the NHL. These two are some of the best the league has to offer and should set the Xcel Energy Center on fire.

The Penguins are currently ranked fifth in the Eastern Conference and third in the Metropolitan. They are, however, dangerously close to falling into the Wild Card slot with the Boston Bruins just three points behind.

Pittsburgh has not responded well to this pressure and has lost three of their last four games; including two against the New York Rangers.

The Wild enter this game as the No. 2 team in the Central Division and have a nice cushion between themselves and No. 3 Saint Louis.

Here are the odds for tonight’s matchup, courtesy of WynnBET Sportsbook.

Penguins vs. Wild Prediction and Pick

The Wild played to a very close 5-4 win the last time these two teams met. It was a very evenly matched game overall and needed a shootout to determine a winner. But, the Wild’s offense has perked up a bit since November and I think the Penguins are in for a rough evening.

Cam Talbot has been an absolute beast during this winning streak for Minnesota. In that time, Talbot has not lost a start and has a save average of 924. Those are seriously impressive numbers. But he might not even be the best goalie in this game.

The Penguins are starting Vezina candidate Tristan Jarry. Jarry’s season-long numbers are more impressive with a .921 SV% and a 33-14-6 record. He will test this Wild offense that is averaging 3.63 goals per game.

Honestly, with the way these two keepers are playing, I wouldn’t be surprised to see a close, low-scoring game tonight. The Wild have gone over this total just once in their last seven games thanks to Talbot. Let’s take a chance that he plays another epic game tonight.

Pick: Under 6.5 (-105)
