Micah Shrewsberry has done a pretty nice job at Penn State so far this year, the Nittany Lions are 6-1 coming off a 70-57 win over Lafayette, an accelerated rebuild.

The Nittany Lions are down south to face the Clemson Tigers in their final non-conference matchup before Big 10 play begins. The Tigers are 5-2 and will be kicking off ACC play on Friday against Wake Forest.

Before they can get into their conference schedule, they’ll have to take care of business tonight, and that means a chance for us as gamblers. Here are the odds and I’ll tell you how I’m betting this one.

Penn State vs. Clemson Prediction and Pick

This handicap comes down to Jalen Pickett. He is having a really impressive start to the season for Penn State. The 6-foot-4 senior guard is averaging 15.1 points, 6.6 rebounds, 7.6 assists, 1.4 steals, and 0.6 blocks. He leads the team in all five statistical categories. That is absurd production and he has been carrying Penn State. His assist number is so high because of the shooters that surround him on the floor. The Nittany Lions are shooting 42.2% from three and their top six players in minutes per game are all shooting over 40%.

Chase Hunter will have to go toe-to-toe with Pickett. Hunter is averaging 16.6 points and 5.3 assists. He just won’t have the same type of shooting surrounding him on the court. Clemson shoots seven less threes per game and hits at a 37.9% clip.

Penn State is the better team if their shots are falling from deep, seven games into their season, they are third in the nation in made threes per game, so I’m ready to trust that the shooting is here to stay. So far, it has the Nittany Lions at 5-1-1 ATS. Maybe the regression will come and crush me today, but I think this will just be a good shooting team all season.

Pick: Penn St +1.5 (-110)
