PGA Championship 2022 Updated Odds for Friday (Can Rory McIlroy Hang onto the Lead?)
By Ben Heisler
Rory McIlroy's biggest Achilles' heel has been getting off to good starts in Majors.
Since 2015, McIlroy on Day 1 has scored 35 over-par, putting him way behind the field before slowly catching up with a combined 68 under-par on Days 2-4.
On Thursday, McIlroy put his early round struggles behind him; breezing through the opening round at Southern Hills Country Club in Tulsa, Oklahoma, firing a 5-under 65 to give him the outright first round lead after 18 holes.
Following McIlroy on the leaderboard are Will Zalatoris (+1100) and Tom Hoge (+3000) at 4-under par. Matt Kuchar, Abraham Ancer and Justin Thomas are 3-under after Day 1.
Other notable scores from Thursday include closing favorite Scottie Scheffler +1 (+1800), Collin Morikawa +2 (+5500), Jordan Spieth +2 (+5500), Jon Rahm +3 (+6000) and Tiger Woods +4 (+66000).
That's right, Tiger Woods, sitting nine shots back is currently available at 660/1 odds to win.
