The Ryder Cup is in the books and now the golf world will enter its slow part of the season.

We likely won’t see many big names competing in the coming weeks, but that doesn’t mean that we shouldn’t bet on these events! In fact, some of the best betting value comes from the events that don’t feature the top golfers in the world.

This week’s event is the Sanderson Farms Championship which will be held at the Country Club of Jackson in Mississippi. Sergio Garcia won the event last year, and the defending champion will be returning to defend his title despite competing in the Ryder Cup last weekend.

Here are the top 15 golfers on the odds list via WynnBET to win this year’s Sanderson Farms Championship.

How to Handicap Country Club of Jackson

The Country Club of Jackson plays as a Par 72 measuring at 7,250 yards which means that strong play off the tee serves as a big advantage this week. We’ve seen exactly that in recent years as Cameron Champ gouged the course with his driver on his way to victory in 2019. Sebastian Munoz and Sergio Garcia also had very strong weeks off the tee in their wins the last two seasons.

Those who can cut off dog leg holes with their distance, will have nothing but a short iron or wedge into the majority of greens at this track.

Greens also get hit at a high rate here, so this course makes stroke play from tee-to-green of higher importance than the short game.

Key stats for Country Club of Jackson

  • Strokes gained: tee-to-green
  • Strokes gained : off-the-tee
  • Ball Striking
  • Strokes gained: approach the green
  • Strokes gained: putting

Sanderson Farms Championship Prediction and Picks

Sergio Garcia +2000

Sergio Garcia was one of the only European golfers to have a strong weekend at the Ryder Cup, securing three points in four matches to become the all-time points leader at the event. He should carry that momentum into this week at a golf course where he’s already thrived.

He ranked third on the PGA Tour in strokes gained: off-the-tee last season, and that’s exactly how he won the latest edition of the event. There’s no reason why he won’t find similar success here this week.

I’m surprised he’s not the betting favorite, and I’m banking on him not being too hungover from the Ryder Cup.

Carlos Ortiz +5000

I expect this track to be a great fit for Carlos Ortiz, and his history here proves that fact. He finished third here in 2019 and fourth in 2020 before missing the cut in the 2021 season edition of the event.

Ortiz ranked 47th in strokes gained: off-the-tee and T41 in ball striking, which would put him near the top in those categories in this week’s less-than-stellar field.

He struggled at times down the stretch last season, but I’m hoping he used the offseason to straighten some aspects of his game out and he’ll be ready to rebound in a big way this week.

Luke List +10000

Luke List had a solo second finish at the Sanderson Farms Championship back in 2017, and it makes sense given how the course fits his strengths. He ranked 13th on the PGA Tour in strokes gained: off-the-tee last season, as well as 26th in strokes gained: tee-to-green.

He was truly one of the worst putters, and his flat stick woes cost him a lot of money in the 2021 season. But if there’s a track that has been forgiving for bad putters in seasons past, it’s the Country Club of Jackson.

Let’s hope that trend continues this week because List is a fantastic bet at 100/1.
