The Philadelphia Eagles snuck into the 2021 NFL postseason, but now expectations are that the team will take a step forward in 2022.

In one of the biggest moves of the offseason, Philadelphia traded for star receiver, A.J. Brown, from the Tennessee Titans. The move will give quarterback Jalen Hurts another weapon, and if the former Alabama product doesn't improve this season, the team may start looking elsewhere for their franchise quarterback.

Let's take a look at what the oddsmakers think, as well as my prediction for the Eagles upcoming season.

Don't forget to check out the full list of team previews here. We'll be releasing one each day until all 32 NFL teams are covered.

Philadelphia Eagles Offseason Moves and Signings

  • Traded 2022 1st round and 3rd round picks for WR A.J. Brown from the Titans.
  • Drafted DT Jordan Davis from Georgia with the 13th overall pick.
  • Signed WR Zach Pascal from the Colts.
  • Signed CB James Bradberry from the Giants.
  • Signed ILB Kyzir White from the Chargers.

Philadelphia Eagles 2022 Schedule

The Eagles start their season in Detroit against the Lions.

Philadelphia will play in five different prime time games:

  • Week 2 vs. Vikings (Monday Night Football)
  • Week 6 vs. Cowboys (Sunday Night Football)
  • Week 9 at Texans (Thursday Night Football)
  • Week 10 vs. Commanders (Monday Night Football)
  • Week 12 vs. Packers (Sunday Night Football)

Week 7 will serve as their BYE Week.

Philadelphia Eagles 2022 Win Total Prediction

  • OVER 9.5 Wins (-150)
  • UNDER 9.5 Wins (+125)

I'm high on the Eagles this season.

One of the things that I liked about head coach Nick Sirianni last year, is that he recognized after the first few weeks that his team had the most success when running the football. So, he leaned on his teams strength and the Eagles finished the year with the highest run play percentage while averaging 5.0 yards per carry, good for fourth best in the NFL.

Also, the Eagles might have one of the most underrated defenses in the NFL. They ranked seventh in opponent yards per play last season, keeping teams to an average of just 5.2 yards. With that being said, they need to improve their pass rush. They ranked 29th in sack percentage last season, averaging 1.8 per game.

That's where rookie Jordan Davis from Georgia steps in. Besides Hurts, he might be the most key player on their roster this season. If he can boost their pass rush, and Hurts can improve under center, the Eagles will be a sneaky dark horse contender.

Pick: OVER 9.5 Wins (-150)

Philadelphia Eagles 2022 Odds to Win NFC East, NFC, and Super Bowl

  • To Make the Playoffs: -190
  • Odds to Win NFC East: +160
  • Odds to Win NFC: +1100
  • Odds to Win Super Bowl 57: +2000

As much as I like the Eagles this season, I need to see a few games from them before I can get a feel for if they'll truly be NFC and Super Bowl contenders or not.

With that being said, I love them to win the NFC East at +160.

I have no faith in the Dallas Cowboys as long as Mike McCarthy is the head coach there, and I think both the New York Giants and Washington Commanders will be struggle to reach seven wins.

The Eagles were effective last season, but had a few holes they had to address. With their offseason acquisitions and wide receiver, defensive back, and defensive line, they are primed to progress in 2022.

Best bet: Win NFC East +160
