Philadelphia travels up into Canada for a quick two-game set with the Blue Jays at the Rogers Centre. The first game tonight will give us a look at Andrew Bellati making his first start of his career, but his 33rd appearance of the season.

Jose Berrios will go for Toronto making his 18th start this year with a 6-4 record and a 5.44 ERA. Overall, the Blue Jays are a game worse than the Phillies at 45-42.

Phillies vs. Blue Jays Prediction and Pick

I’ve written ad nauseum about Jose Berrios and his struggles this year. It is for real.

This isn’t a case of some bad luck that makes your ERA inflate or anything like that. Berrios is in the bottom two percent of the league in expected slugging percentage, bottom 10 percent in hard hit rate, and bottom three percent in expected ERA. His fastball is allowing a slugging percentage of .700.

He is not a quality starter pitcher anymore. So, why is Vegas treating him like one with this line? Oh not to mention that Toronto is 1-9 in its last 10 games while the Phillies are 6-4. Rhys Hoskins has three home runs and four RBI in his last 10, helping get the Phillies in the mix for an NL Wild Card berth.

With Bryce Harper out, the Phillies have to lean on Hoskins and Kyle Schwarber much more. They have been able to provide enough offense lately and with Berrios pitching, any team should be able to provide enough offense.

Pick: Phillies ML (+175)
