Phillies vs. Braves Prediction and Odds for Thursday, May 26 (Atlanta has Advantage on Mound in Series Finale)
By Matt De Saro
NL East rivals are set to close out a four-game series on Thursday when the Philadelphia Phillies and Atlanta Braves square off at Truist Park. These two are locked in a battle for second place while the New York Mets run away with the division. They split the first two games of this series with both matches going well over the betting total.
These two teams match up quite well with the Phillies bringing in a high-octane offense while the Braves have been very strong on the mound this season. Let’s dig into this game and pick a side for Thursday’s series finale.

Phillies vs. Braves Prediction and Pick
While these two teams match up very well, I don’t think the same can be said for tonight’s starting pitchers. Aaron Nola gets the nod for Philly and has been a shell of the guy who Philly signed for a four-year/45M contract. He’s 1-4 on the year with a 3.96 ERA and 0.99 WHIP. And while those numbers aren’t terrible, they only tell half the story. Nola had a strong start to the year and ended April with a 3.90 ERA. But, since the start of May, the Phillies haven’t won a game Nola started. Nola’s last game saw him surrender four earned runs in 5 ⅓ innings against the dodgers. Nola is also giving up a lot of home runs this year including three in his last two games. Again, not terrible, but Nola is heading in the wrong direction fast.
Atlanta, meanwhile, will turn to Kyle Wright to make his ninth start of the year. Wright was fantastic in his last start, allowing zero runs on two hits to the Marlins. The start before that he held the Padres to one run over 6 ⅓ innings while striking out nine. Wright’s bread and butter are strikeouts which is an area the Phillies offense struggles in. Philly strikes out 8.98 times per game on average and might have issues getting much going tonight against Wright.
Pick: Braves -115 to win
