Phillies vs. Diamondbacks Prediction and Odds for Tuesday, August 30 (Diamondbacks Have Phillies' Number)
By Joe Summers
I believe extreme emotions help make life interesting. Whether it's the nerves before a big interview, the thrill of a rollercoaster, or the fear from a haunted house, even seemingly negative feelings are neat.
That being said, I'm good if I never again experience the disgust I felt when the Philadelphia Phillies turned into "Mahoney" from the old Buffalo Wild Wings commercials last night, melting away a seven-run lead in the blink of an eye. I want to throw up just thinking about it.
The Arizona Diamondbacks have to feel like they've got Philly's number now, and Zac Gallen hopes to outduel Aaron Nola in tonight's matchup.
Gallen hasn't allowed a single run in his last four starts, surrendering just 12 hits over 27.1 innings with 32 strikeouts. Nola has a 2.13 road ERA, but did give up five runs to the New York Mets two weeks ago.
Can the Phillies rebound or will Arizona kick the visitors while they're down? Here are the odds from WynnBET Sportsbook as I try to never think about last night's collapse again:

Zac Gallen is legitimately MLB's best pitcher since the All-Star break. What? You think I'm lying? Well, how do you explain this then?
See, I'm not just overreacting because I'm angry! The Diamondbacks are 7-1 in Gallen's last eight home starts and are well-positioned to pick up another victory this evening. He's tied with Justin Verlander for the most shutout starts on the year (eight), possessing a legitimately embarrassing amount of pure filth:
Aaron Nola is exceptional in his own right and followed up his debacle against the Mets with a complete-game shutout of the Reds. But I don't care, because I'm angry with the Phillies. I'm spiteful, so what?
Jokes aside, losses like last night can stick with a team. That mental hurdle is hard to jump over, and the Phillies' bullpen seems content to spectacularly crash into the hurdle instead of clearing it. With the starting pitching matchup basically a wash, I'll side with the mental advantage Arizona has.
Give me the Diamondbacks to win a fourth straight game as underdogs while Philadelphia falls to 4-6 in Nola's last 10 starts. I'll forgive you one day, Philly, but a broken heart needs time to heal.
PICK: Diamondbacks (+122)
