The hottest team in the Majors right now is the, (checks notes, squints at computer screen), the Arizona Diamondbacks?

Yep, the 61-67 D-Backs have won five straight games, and look to go to 35-32 at home when they take on the Philadelphia Phillies this evening in hopes of a three-game sweep.

Arizona has erupted offensively over its last three games vs. Philadelphia, scoring 13,13, and 12 runs. Granted, the first 13 run game came in Philadelphia, but they seemed to carry the momentum forward into the desert.

The Phillies' remain in the second wild card spot despite the three straight losses, but the San Diego Padres trail them by just a half game. Can they hang on and stop the bleeding tonight?

Phillies vs. Diamondbacks Prediction and Pick

The Diamondbacks have unleashed against this Phillies staff over the last few days. Philadelphia's allowed 25 runs, while also costing their F5 bettors the most brutal beat imaginable on Monday night; giving up a 7-run lead in the 5th inning.

Want some good news, Phillies fans? Apparently, your team is 9-0 since July 25 of last season in games following 18 total runs or more being scored previously. You can't make this stuff up.

Only problem? Bailey Falter isn't very good. In 13 games (nine starts), Falter has a 4.41 ERA, but an expected ERA (xERA) of 4.92, and a terrible Fielding Independent Pitching of 5.50. That's an ominous sign against a Diamondbacks' lineup that's red-hot. Daulton Varsho has a weighted-on-base-average (wOBA) of .551 in the last week, while Stone Garrett's is up to .628!

The argument can also be made for Diamondbacks SP Tommy Henry, who's 3.25 ERA looks good, but his 4.68 FIP is very concerning. However, based on the state of both team's offenses right now, I'll back the lineup more locked in at the dish at an underdog price.
