Phillies vs. Marlins Prediction and Odds for Wednesday, September 14 (Marlins Have Value as Home Dog)
By Peter Dewey
The Philadelphia Phillies are looking to extend their winning streak to five straight games when they face the Miami Marlins on Wednesday night.
The Marlins have lost seven of their last 10 games and are now a shocking 26 games under .500, a huge fall off from where they were earlier this season.
Marlins youngster Edward Cabrera (5-2, 2.63 ERA) is on the mound for Wednesday’s game against Philly’s Kyle Gibson (9-6, 4.57 ERA). Cabrera has cooled off after a great start to August, but he’s still one of the more electrifying young arms in the game.
Let’s jump into the odds from FanDuel for this NL East matchup:

Cabrera returned in August from the injured list and was lights out, pitching 22.2 consecutive scoreless innings and allowing just eight hits over that stretch.
However, since then he’s struggled a bit, posting a 5.51 ERA over his last three starts, giving up 14 hits, eight walks and 10 earned runs in just 16.1 innings.
That can be problematic with the Marlins ranking dead last in OPS over the last 15 days. Cabrera is going to need to be lights out for Miami to hang in this one, but luckily Gibson has struggled recently as well.
The right-hander has a 14.85 ERA this month, allowing 11 earned runs in 6.2 innings (two starts). I don’t mind taking a shot on the Marlins as home dogs, especially is Cabrera can get back on track.
