Andrew McCutchen and the Philadelphia Phillies could score a lot of runs tonight against Miami Marlins starting pitcher Jesus Luzardo.

The Philadelphia Phillies picked up a shutout victory over the Miami Marlins last night, 5-0, with Ranger Suarez throwing seven scoreless innings and potential NL MVP Bryce Harper hitting his 35th home run of the season. It was a good night for the Phillies. Will the good times continue tonight?

Hans Crouse (0-1, 3.00 ERA) will toe the rubber tonight for Philadelphia. Crouse came over to the Phillies from the Texas Rangers organization in the trade package headlined by starting pitcher Kyle Gibson and reliever Ian Kennedy. This will be the second Major League start for Crouse, who only went three innings in his first start against the Pittsburgh Pirates.

Jesus Luzardo (5-9, 6.90 ERA) will get the start for Miami. Luzardo was also traded to his current organization in 2021, coming over from the Oakland Athletics in the trade that sent Starling Marte to the A’s. Always a highly regarded prospect, Luzardo has a solid four-pitch mix with a four-seam fastball, changeup, sinker, and curveball; the curveball being his go-to pitch, throwing it 27.9% of the time. After struggling this season, the young lefty will now look to put it all together in 2022.

Phillies vs. Marlins Odds

Moneyline:

Philadelphia: -123

Miami: +113

Run Line:

Philadelphia: -1.5 (+140)

Miami: +1.5 (-160)

Total:

8 (Over -105/Under -115)

Phillies vs. Marlins Prediction

Luzardo has allowed 11 runs in his last 12 ⅓ innings, and for some reason must really hate night games, recording an ERA of 8.17 in night games compared to a 5.00 ERA in the day.

One bat to look out for in this one is outfielder Andrew McCutchen. McCutchen has only batted .221 on the season with an OPS of .774, but has hit lefties at a .292 average and a 1.015 OPS.

I’m taking the over 8 in this game, but I’ll take Philadelphia on the run line as well at -1.5 (+140).
