After dropping the first two games of the series, the 21-26 Philadelphia Phillies hope to salvage a win against the 31-17 New York Mets on Sunday Night Baseball tonight at 7:00 PM EST.

Two of the best pitchers in the National League square off as Zack Wheeler faces Chris Bassitt. Wheeler has thrown a quality start in four of his last five outings and sports a 1.69 ERA during May.

Bassitt is hoping to bounce back after a nightmare start against the Giants in which he surrendered eight runs in 4.1 innings. He gave up three home runs in that start, and in total has given up seven long balls already this month.

Can Bassitt return to his early-season form, or will Wheeler and Philadelphia snag a road win?

Here are the odds from WynnBET Sportsbook to help us break down this Phillies vs Mets Sunday Night Baseball matchup:

Phillies vs Mets Odds, Run Line and Total

Run Line:

  • Phillies +1.5 (-200)
  • Mets -1.5 (+165)

Moneyline:

  • Phillies: +101
  • Mets: -111

Total:

  • 7.5 (Over -105/Under -115)

Phillies vs Mets Prediction and Pick

The Mets may need to start worrying about Chris Bassitt. Their rotation is already in shambles due to injury, and Bassitt needs to be his typical, excellent self to avoid letting the pitching staff become a major liability.

But over his last two starts, Bassitt has been terrible. In 10.2 innings, he surrendered 17 hits, 12 runs, and five home runs. That's not going to suffice against a Phillies lineup that averages the third-most home runs per road game in the Majors.

Philadelphia is just 1-4 in their last five but should be favored today. While Bassitt has struggled, Zack Wheeler has regained his dominant form. Over his last five starts, he has a 1.40 ERA and hasn't given up more than three runs a single time. After having command issues in April, Wheeler has only issued two walks in May.

As Wheeler has been dominant, so have the Phillies in his outings. They've won three straight and four of five overall when he pitches, with their only loss coming by a single run. All four wins came by multiple runs, and I think they're in great shape to keep winning behind him.

Give me the Phillies to hammer Bassitt and give Wheeler another victory to close out a stellar May.

Pick: Phillies (+101)
