Pittsburgh has dropped four straight coming into Game 2 of their weekend series with Philadelphia. The Pirates surged back with five runs in the ninth to nearly steal the first game of this cross-state matchup. So, the Bucs may have some momentum coming into Friday night.

In baseball the phrase always goes, momentum is only as good as your next day's starting pitcher, and luckily for Pittsburgh, they have Jose Quintana scheduled to go. Philly will hand the ball to fellow left-hander, Bailey Falter.

Phillies vs. Pirates Prediction and Pick

Five days ago, Jose Quintana had his best start as a Pirate -- in what many thought would certainly be his last start as a Pirate. Quintana went seven scoreless in the 1-0 win over Miami and was expected to be traded away for prospects prior to the deadline. That may still occur and there is certainly a chance that Quintana is a last second scratch before his start tonight.

Though if he does start, he will be happy to make his 12th start at PNC Park because Quintana has fared much better at home than he has on the road. This could be a reason for concern for potential suitors, because Quintana has 2.65 ERA at home and a 5.22 ERA on the road.

Bailey Falter goes for Philly and has been predominantly a spot starter this season. He has a 5.18 ERA and is 0-3 in six starts. That isn’t enough to scare me off from taking the Phillies tonight, because Pittsburgh is 2-8 in their last 10 games with a .207 average. The offense has betrayed them and if it wasn’t for a huge ninth inning yesterday, the Pirates would have been blown out.

Pick: Phillies ML -122
