The Colorado Rockies are one of the hottest teams to start the season and have raced out to a 7-3 record in their first ten games. The Rockies are winners of three of their last four and they took game one of this series 4-1.

On the other hand, the Philadelphia Phillies have been underperforming so far this year and are 4-7 overall. There was a fair amount of hype surrounding this team in the preseason, but they have a long way to go to compete in the NL East. Despite having an upgraded offense led by 2021 MVP Bryce Harper, the Phillies have lost six of their last seven games outright. A lot of these losses aren't even close. The Marlins beat them 11-3 on Sunday and 7-1 on Friday while the Rockies won and covered the first game of this series.

Phillies vs. Rockies Prediction and Pick

Zach Eflin makes his second start for the Phillies as the team looks to turn their terrible start around. He was lights out in his first start with four scoreless innings against the A’s. But got touched in his second start after giving up four runs in four-inning against the Marlins. Eflin has a career ERA of 4.55 and a WHIP of 1.32. Those about mirror his stats after two starts of 4.50 and 1.38. Eflin is a back-end starter and is not the guy who is going to save the day against the Rockies' offense.

The Rockies currently have the best batting average in the MLB at .282. They rank in the top seven in runs per game, RBIs per game, and at-bats per game. They also lead the league in slugging percentage and extra-base hit percentage.

German Marquez gets the start for Colorado coming off a sketchy start against the Cubs. He went 4 ⅓ innings and gave up four earned runs. While that isn’t terrible, he also gave up ten total hits. So, things could have easily been much worse.

Based on all of this, I am going to make a play on the OVER for this game. The Phillies' offense may be playing poorly, but they have the potential to be one of the best in the National League. Maybe today they can put on a show for us.

Pick: OVER
