It's a battle of the Kyles as the 4-7 Philadelphia Phillies trot out Kyle Gibson to take on Kyle Freeland and the 7-3 Colorado Rockies at 8:40 PM EST.

The Rockies won the first game of the series 4-1 yesterday, and are now 5-1 outright on the season as underdogs. But Freeland has struggled mightily in the early stages of 2022, surrendering 10 runs over nine innings in a pair of losses.

Gibson shut out the Athletics over seven innings in his season debut before giving up four runs in a loss to the Marlins in his second start.

Philadelphia has lost six of seven and are in desperate need of a win. Can they rebound against Freeland today or will the Rockies pick up yet another win as underdogs?

Let's take a peak at the odds from WynnBET Sportsbook to help find out ahead of this Phillies vs Rockies matchup:

Phillies vs Rockies Odds, Run Line and Total

Run Line:

  • Phillies -1.5 (+115)
  • Rockies +1.5 (-140)

Moneyline:

  • Phillies: -132
  • Rockies: +122

Total:

  • 11.5 (Over -115/Under -105)

Phillies vs Rockies Prediction and Pick

Both pitchers have shown significant signs for concern heading into today's matchup. Gibson amassed a 5.09 ERA in 11 starts after being acquired by the Phillies at the trade deadline last year. In his final four road starts of the season, he allowed 18 runs over 21 innings for a 7.71 ERA. Yikes.

On the other hand, Freeland struggles to limit hard contact and should be in for a long day against a Philly lineup that has six different players with an above-average hard hit percentage. He doesn't strike many batters out, so the Phillies should be able to strike early and often.

Colorado has the league's best bullpen so far, but this will be the sixth consecutive day they've played and if Freeland doesn't last long, their arms could be gassed. I think Philadelphia snaps out of their cold streak to get a road win today, but I also like the over.

With Freeland struggling and both offenses ranking in top-10 in OPS, we should see a lot of runs. The wind is blowing out to center field and the Rockies should have success against a Philadelphia bullpen that ranks 25th in ERA in 2022.

Give me the Phillies and the over in a high-scoring contest.

Pick: Phillies (-132) and Over 11.5 (-115)
