Pirates vs. Brewers Prediction and Odds for Monday, August 29 (Fade Burnes Against Familiar Opponents)
By Josh Yourish
Two struggling teams in the NL Central begin a three-game series tonight as the Pittsburgh Pirates travel to face the Milwaukee Brewers. Pittsburgh has sole possession of last place in the Central at 48-79 and Milwaukee has fallen out of contention for the division crown, now 67-59, six games behind the surging Cardinals as August nears its end.
Tonight, Corbin Burnes takes the mound for the Brewers in search of his 10th win of the year. The Pirates have yet to announce their starter.
Let’s take a look at the odds from WynnBET.

Pirates vs. Brewers Prediction and Pick
The Pirates won yesterday against Philadelphia to fight off another sweep and put an end to their seven-game losing streak. A five-inning shutout performance by Roansy Contreras led to the 5-0 win, but now the Pirates are undecided on their starter to oppose last year’s Cy Young award winner.
Pittsburgh doesn’t have enough pitching depth to feel confident going into a game when you know who is starting, let alone a game when you are unsure who will take the mound. If it was a lesser pitcher on the other side there could be some hope for Pittsburgh, but Corbin Burnes will shut them down.
Burnes does struggle the more familiar he is with an opponent and just gave up seven runs in his last outing. The second of back-to-back starts against the Dodgers. This will be the fourth time the Pirates have seen Burnes and his cutter this season, so they may be able to get to him.
The safest play in this one without knowing the pitcher for Pittsburgh is to take the over and expect Milwaukee to cover it themselves. If the Pirates familiarity with Burnes hurts the Brewers’ ace, then that is just a bonus.
LEAN: Over 7.5 (-116)
