The Baltimore Orioles are inching towards the playoffs day-by-day. They are less than two games out of the Wild Card spot coming into the matchup with the Pirates.

Pittsburgh has continued to stumble as of late, and will have to go through Spenser Watkins to find a win.

Will the Orioles get the win needed to close the gap or will the Pirates play spoiler and keep the Orioles just outside of the postseason?

Pirates vs. Orioles Prediction and Odds

The Orioles are sending Spenser Watkings to toe the rubber and that’s a great sign for them. Pittsburgh has been terrible this season against righties, sporting the 28th-best OPS against right-handed pitchers. On top of that, they have the fourth-fewest home runs against righties. If Pittsburgh can’t get the ball in play or make up for it with homers, its offense is slated for a slow day.

Baltimore should also feast off of Bryse Wilson. He’s given up five home runs in his last five starts and hasn’t cleared five strikeouts in that span either.

The Orioles are just a few games away from the Wild Card spot, and I expect them to take a step towards the postseason today.

Pick: Orioles ML (-150)
