Pirates vs. Reds Game 2 Prediction and Odds for Saturday, May 7 (Don't Put Your Money on Cincinnati)
By Matt De Saro
It’s time again for me to write about my favorite team in the MLB this season, the Cincinnati Reds.
We all knew they were going to be bad, but three wins in 25 games is a new level of failure. With Thursday’s loss to the Brewers, the Reds tied the MLB record for the worst start to a season. The 2003 Tigers held the record with a .120 win percentage in their first 25 games, eventually ending the season at .265. Even against a team as bad as the Pittsburgh Pirates, I struggle to see a world where the Reds are worth betting on.
This will now be the second game of a doubleheader after Friday’s Game 1 was postponed.

Pirates vs. Reds Prediction and Pick
There are many cases in sports betting where a team is losing games outright, but still covering the spread. The Reds are not one of those cases. It’s really amazing, but the Reds are not only 1-20 SU and 19-2 ATS in their last 21 games. I don’t know the historical figures, but I’m going to assume that is one of the worst ATS runs in a long time.
Have the Reds bottomed out? Despite betting against them daily without a second thought, I expected them to turn it around by now. I feel like I'm calling coin flips using a quarter with heads on both sides. And yes, eventually I will lose another game with this “system." I don’t think it’s going to happen tonight and a going 19-3 doesn't exactly feel bad.
Mitch Keller gets the start for Pittsburgh and is the reason I will not be taking the Pirates ATS here. With a 5.23 ERA, he is a guy who even the Reds can put up runs against.
Pick: Pirates -120 ML
