The Pittsburgh Pirates and Detroit Tigers finish up their short interleague series today in Game 2 of a doubleheader at Comerica Park.

Both teams are well under .500 and struggling to remain afloat in their respective divisions. The Tigers went 1-7 in the eight games prior to this series and have just one series win all year. The Pirates, meanwhile, lost five of six in the lead up to this two-game tilt.

While both teams are dreadful, they match up quite well head-to-head. So we might actually get a good game this afternoon.

Here are the latest odds for Game 2 over at WynnBET Sportsbook.

Pirates vs. Tigers Prediction and Pick (Game 2)

On paper, the Tigers have a better team all-around, but they haven’t been playing up to their potential at all. Conversely, despite their poor record, the Pirates have actually looked better than expected with such a limited roster.

Jose Quintana gets the start for Pittsburgh today in his fifth appearance of the season. Quintana sports a 3.32 ERA and 1.32 WHIP; though he’s looked better than those numbers suggest. He got touched up a little in his second start against the Nationals but otherwise has been very good. Quintana gave up one run over five innings on Thursday against the Brewers in his previous start, striking out nine while walking none. I think he’s a sharp pick to continue pitching well into this week.

The Tigers counter with right-hander Alex Faedo as he makes his Major League debut on Wednesday night. So far in four games in the Minors, he's 2-1 with a 1.72 ERA; striking out 20 batters to just three walks in 15 innings pitched.

I'll back the Buckos moneyline on getaway day.

Pick: Pirates ML
