Pistons vs. Hawks Prediction and Odds: Can Atlanta Cover as Major Favorite?
By Peter Dewey
The Atlanta Hawks are 1-1 so far this season, but I’ve been backing the Hawks to be one of the NBA’s better teams this season.
On Monday night, Atlanta will face the Detroit Pistons and Rookie of the Year favorite Cade Cunningham. Atlanta is an 11.5-point favorite at WynnBET, and that line has actually moved from 10.5 points earlier today.
The Pistons lost their first two games of the season against the Chicago Bulls and failed to cover in both games.
Here are the odds for Monday’s matchup in Atlanta:
Pistons vs. Hawks Odds, Spread and Total
Spread:
- Pistons +11.5 (-110)
- Hawks -11.5 (-110)
Moneyline:
- Pistons: +500
- Hawks: -700
Total:
- 213.5 (Over -110/Under -110)
Hawks vs. Pistons Prediction and Pick
I don’t love how inflated this spread has gotten, as Detroit finished last season with the 19th-best defensive rating even though they had one of the worst records in the league.
There’s some potential there, and the Pistons showed it by holding the Bulls under 100 points in each of their first two games.
While Atlanta is a high-powered offense, it scored just 95 points against the Cleveland Cavaliers in the second game of the season.
I’m going to take the under 213.5 points in this one, and I think that Detroit will be able to compete if it brings a similar defensive effort on Monday.
