The Detroit Pistons took their season opener against the Orlando Magic, holding off a great game from No. 1 overall pick Paolo Banchero to win 113-109.

Cade Cunningham (18 points, 10 assists) and Jaden Ivey (19 points, four assists) were extremely impressive in the season opener, and the Pistons were able to cover the three-point spread.

Meanwhile, the New York Knicks went to overtime in their first game against the Memphis Grizzlies after Cam Reddish drilled a corner 3-pointer with three seconds left in regulation.

Reddish finished with 22 points, but the Knicks came up short in overtime in a three-point loss. Jalen Brunson had a terrific debut for the Knicks, but does the team have enough in the tank to bounce back on Friday?

Pistons vs. Knicks Prediction and Pick

The Knicks have won eight straight games against the Pistons, and two of their three wins last season were by nine or more points.

Brunson helped Julius Randle have a terrific season opener, and it’s a good sign the Knicks stayed in this game even though RJ Barrett shot a dreadful 3-for-18 from the field.

The Pistons are a good young team, and the addition of Bojan Bogdanovic will certainly raise their ceiling this season. That being said, the Knicks should be able to handle this roster even with Bojan and Ivey in the fold.

New York struggled to guard Ja Morant, but it shut down secondary players like Desmond Bane in the loss to the Grizzlies. If Barrett shoots better and Mitchell Robinson can play more than 13 minutes (foul trouble) the Knicks should cover at home against the upstart Pistons.
