Pitt vs. Northwestern Prediction and Odds for Monday, November 28 (Jeff Capel Has Dragged Pitt to Rock Bottom)
By Josh Yourish
Jeff Capel was not the answer at Pitt and now they’re stuck with him because of a ridiculous extension early in his tenure. He isn’t the recruiter they thought they were getting and even some of the talented players that they’ve gotten on campus have left for greener pastures. Now, the Panthers are up in Chicago to take on the Northwestern Wildcats, one of the best defensive teams in the nation.
Pitt is 4-3 without an impressive win in sight and Northwesterns is 6-1 after a 43-42 loss to Auburn last wednesday. The Wildcats are favorites in this one and here are the odds.

Pitt vs. Northwestern Prediction and Pick
I’m a Penn State fan that was raised in Pittsburgh, so I don't like Pitt and even I’m disappointed by how poorly the Capel era has gone. I miss Jamie Dixon because as a basketball fan at least there were meaningful games being played in the city. That’s how rock bottom this program is right now. The two real quality opponents that they have played, Michigan and West Virginia, neither of which are ranked, absolutely killed them, and VCU even beat them at a neutral site.
Northwestern is as good if not better than those teams because of how elite they’ve played defensively so far. It’s primarily come against a soft schedule, but their recent matchup with Auburn showed me that this defense is real.
The Wildcats are not a great team, but they have a balanced scoring attack with Boo Buie (awesome name by the way), Chase Audige, Ty Berry, and Robbie Beran, all averaging just over 10 points a game. That is more than enough if they keep holding their opponents to 32.2% from the field, 26.3% from three and to 51.7 points per game.
Pick: Northwestern -6.5 (-110)
